Hi there. I'm trying to choose between a couple of different notebooks, and I would love some advice. If I ignore the RAM, hard drive, camera on the dv20XX, etc., I come down to processor and graphics system.
So, two questions:
Between Intel Core Duo T2050 and AMD Turion X2 TL-50, which is better?
And between Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (shared mem) and NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 (UMA), which is better?
I understand that the Intel processor goes with the Intel graphics, and AMD with NVIDIA.
Specifically, I am looking at the dv2020ca, dv2040ca, V3010CA, and V3020CA.
Thanks for your help!
Oh and one off-topic question: can I hack the HP QuickPlay software to play Ogg Vorbis files? How about DivX? Thanks!

The Core Duo is more powerful than the Turion X2 and offers the ability to upgrade to Merom, which blows the X2 away. However, though both GPUs are IGPs, the GeForce Go will beat the GMA by a good amount. though neither are really for more intensive stuff.
As for the question on quickplay, I'm not sure on that, I'm sure there's probably a way though.
Really, I always felt the choice between the two boiled down to price and looks since they're both available with either Turion X2 or Core Duo. -
with $25 more you will get Nvidia 7200 by selecting Intel. AMD doesn't have this luck.
Can you find any source of QP? Otherwise where to start with? -
Reize - Thanks for the info. I'm in Canada, and unfortunately we can't do build to order. If I could I'd go for the dv20XX with Intel and NVIDIA, as you say. I'll look into this Merom...
rockharder - Thanks as well. Same comments as above!
Can either of you pont to any number for Intel vs. AMD? And same for the video?
I haven't come across much for the QuickPlay stuff, but I know that it runs in a small linux partition. One thing I saw was a different linux based media player called GeeXBox. Apparently you can install this in the small partition, but I don't know much more than that.
Thanks again!
