Pavilion dv6700 motherboard question...

I have one of those old dv6700 series (specifically a dv6809wm) notebooks who's motherboard has fallen victim to the warping issue that has affected so many. And yet, I never knew that there was a recall that warranted sending in the unit to HP to correct the issue. As old as it is, I never figured. And I when I did realize there was, it was too late.

Well - I still want the laptop repaired. I think there are a few good years left in her and to be quite honest, I want to undertake the project just to see if I can do it. But there are a myriad of HP part numbers for replacement boards that I could use. Most of which are interchangeable. Most of the dv6000 boards fit in all of the models available. The default in mine is an AMD-based nForce 560 with the 6150 IGP. No HMDI available. Not exactly what I plan on putting back in it. What I do plan on putting in is HP part no. 459564-001. This MB is also an AMD nForce model but is the "full featured" model with the G86-730-A2 decrete graphics card (nVidia 8600GS).

What I want to know is if anyone with this MB knows if it is compatible with the Atheros b/g LAN module? The Atheros adapter has a two-wire antenna. I know there are MB's for the dv6700 that use a three-wire antenna for it's LAN adapter. I want to know if this motherboard had two or three plugs?

By "motherboard warping issue", do you mean the "nVIDIA defect" from 2007?

Also, GeForce 8600GS sounds like a defective part to me.

 

I guess that is what I mean by "warping".

Anything wrong with the 8600GS or am I misinformed on something?.. it's alright. Wouldn't be the first time.

 

As far as I'm aware, all the entry-level 61xx and 7xxx cards and the 8000 series are a part of the "NVIDIA defect".
