    Hello,

I am looking to mod the bios on my g4-1215dx. I purchased an A8-3510dx and would like to add support to the bios. I have done this previously for one of my desktops however I am not sure what bios modding tool I could use for this particular bios. It appears to be an Insyde bios and so far I have been unsuccessful at finding a utility to mod the bios. If anyone has any suggestions I would also like to hear those.

    Thanks!

I added the A8-3510MX to my E425 without BIOS modding too.

I tried putting the processor into the computer and I got a slow flashing light pattern on my caps lock, think the processor might just be bad?

Its possible you have a bad APU but I'm not sure how to determine that for sure besides putting that same APU into a different notebook (like from a different manufacturer).

When I first tried booting my e425 after my swap, it would not start. The screen stayed black. I tried reseating the RAM, switched to one stick of RAM (the original stick), & eventually It did boot, & loaded into the Windows desktop. For some reason my Windows became "not-geniune" & I did a factory restore. I think caught a virus because I wasn't using an anti-virus or any kind of protection. Also, I was flashing/modding my RAM & that might have had an affect.

All is well now, no boot errors, no "Windows-not-genuine" errors, it just works as I imagined. The BIOS identifies the APU correctly, as does Windows 7. The only small negative was a small increase in heat output & small increase in energy consumption (35W vs 45W TDP). I remedied this by using FusionTweaker to undervolt & underclock when I don't need the high performance while on battery alone.

Does the seller you bought it from accept returns?

Did you update to the latest BIOS release before attempting the swap?
