I have a zv5000 with the built-in wireless-G, and a Linksys wireless-G router. I'm sitting here a couple roomsw away from the router, with the connection showing 54 Mbps, signal strength very good.

But just moments ago I got yet another "Wireless Network Connection" balloon message that 'wireless connections are available' - sometimes it shows my net's SSID and occasionally that one and some unknown SSID ("2WIRE410"), and sometimes none and I have to choose Advanced and find my SSID to reconnect again. This happens all around the house - sitting there with a good connection and suddenly I have to mess around reconnecting. What a PITA!

Any ideas if this is a software problem (I installed MS's wireless update, and the router has the latest firmware), or a router problem?

Sounds like you have a neighbor whose AP ("2WIRE410") is interfering with yours. Try switching your AP to a different channel.

2.4GHz cordless phones can cause interference too. Stick with 900MHz cordless phones if you haven't gone cell-phone-only yet (900MHz is better anyhow, has less trouble with things like walls).

Changing your channels to 1, 6 or 11 will also reduce the risk of interference from cordless phones. Another thing you can try, is to disable the option to Automatically Connect to Non-Prefered Networks in the Advanced Button of your Wireless Network Connections.

Thanks, guys - running continuously and smoothly and no longer seeing that other SSID since switching to ch. 11
