Hey guys, I've found that my zv6130 doesn't recognize the new battery I bought for some reason. Not sure if it's motherboard related or what but when first inserted, power meter said no battery present and the little lightning bolt charging indicator on the laptop was not lit. After a few reboots and choosing the laptop/portable power scheme, the lightning bolt indicator lit for a second.

Over the course of 15minutes, it came on steady and the toolbar showed the battery charging symbol (lightning bolt). However after a minute or so, the toolbar charging indicator is gone, replaced by the AC power symbol and on the laptop itself, the charging indicator/lightning bolt is intermittent and flashes on and off at no regular interval.

Hate that I spend $75 on this battery now...

Have you tried just letting it be? I have heard with some cell phones when the battery is completely dead it needs SOME juice before anything will even light up. Slightly different, and different electronic category... but worth a shot. Try not messing with anything for a good half hour and see if there is any change?

I didn't have time to fool with it more last night but I just popped the new one in and I think POSSIBLY the culprit is that the new battery is a little loose in the compartment and could have a poor contact. I reinstalled it keeping pressure on the connection side of the battery w/the laptop and the charging light is staying lit...
If that's the case, looks my $75 battery for my 5 year old laptop will need the cardboard mod (or something similarly rediculous)!

Oh well, time for a Probook or something I think....

Found the problem, duh...I recently tore down the laptop to upgrade the CPU and only 'loosely' reassembled it to make sure everything worked first and never got around to snapping the bottom cover back into place completely. That's why the battery was a little loose, WooHoo!

Now I have no excuse for a new laptop though...BooHoo! :p
