Okay, so I've decided not to get the macbook because it's a little bit heavy and so I'm considering the 13" of the paviliion series.

Any comments about the pavillion series? Especially on:
    -heat
-durability (when you drop it, how long can it last, etc)

    Thanks in advance!

Personally, I suggest sticking with integrated graphics with smaller form factor laptops since heat will always be more of an issue on a smaller design. I think most 13" will be ok with integrated GPU. Once you stick a dedicated gpu like a nvidia 8400 into a 13" you might have a toaster. As far a dropping it I would not expect much from most laptops. Think about a thinkpad with the built in roll cage etc... if your worried about dropping it.

Heat - i experienced it on zd7000, but no more heat on HDX
    Durability - very durable.

what I hate from HP is not listening to their customer's voice until they are forced. Like HP including HD DVD until warner bros supported Blu-ray exclusively announcement, which they then made announcement to support BD. idiots.

I ended up with a laptop with blu-ray drive installed, but with HD DVD bezel, costing me extra £262

Hmm.. here's the specs of the 13"

    Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
    2.0 GHz
    2048 MB
    250 GB
SuperMulti 8X DVD±R/RW with Double Layer Support
    NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    32.0 cm (L) x 22.8 cm (W) x 3.17 cm (min H) / 3.81 cm (max H)
    From 2.02 kg
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection, 802.11 a/g/n

Does this mean it can heat up easily?? I'm not a techie person so I have no idea what NVIDIA is. :)

    Also, what about battery life?

What laptop do those specs belong to? Try looking in the review section for battery life information and heat output.

Nvidia is a graphics processor unit (GPU) manufacturer.

As an HP pavilion owner for the last 5 years, I can happily comment positively about the durability of the Pavilion notebooks. To me HP makes the pavilion notebooks very sturdy, compared to Dell which seems to make flimsy notebooks. when you first take that pavilion notebook out of the box, it feels like it is all one piece. It doesn't wobble or creak.

As for the heat, that varies between the computers. Personally, the only time my pavilions every heated up were after long durations of internet surfing and gaming while sitting in a recliner and the notebook being on my lap.

It's the dv3013 from the dv3000 series and unfortunately...there's no review about it since it's only available in HK.
