    Hi All,

Total newbie here, so hello to all and many thanks for taking the time to read.

i have a HP Pavillion TX1000 notebook running Vista. Last night i stuck in a DVD and it played using the "QuickPlay" package (hadn't used this before, usually used Media Player) but as soon as it began, the speakers began "Screaming" ie giving serious feedback.

i'm fairly sure this is something to do with the internal microphone, as it gets worse when i tap or rub my finger across it (it's located beside the webcam on the lid). But even if i go to the sound/recording controls and disable the mic, it does not eliminate the problem. The only way i can stop the noise (it is constant) is to mute the speakers, but obviously this means i cant hear anything at all even stuff i want to like movies or music!

If anyone can shed any light on this i'd REALLY appreciate your help.

    Many Thanks to all
