I've just done some movie editing with Cyberlink Powerdirector, and Nero, and I find the laptop pretty slow in this job, even crash sometimes.
Is the pavillion designed for movie editing also or just games?

Your notebook seems adequate for movie editing though you might want to consider getting another gig of ram.

Also, movie editing doesnt require a great GPU, if you arent doing any 3D modeling movie style editing. Mainly CPU and RAM does all the work. So CEENote mention, get another 1 GB of RAM.

I forgot to update my info. I have a pair of 1GB Corsair RAM PC-5300 now.
I did not say that my laptop is incapable.
It's just that it took pretty long to make an adjustment in video clip, music, voice, and sound in PowerDirector, and sometimes, my Visual Studio stopped the PowerDirector due to some unknown-to-me error.
This is just film editing, I record movie from my camera, and edit it on laptop, no 3d involved.

Are you using Vista? I know of several software titles out are not currently optimized for Vista. Also, see if you can shut down any unnecessary programs that might be running in the background.

I've used power director...I had issues with that program too. Also with ULEAD products.

If your just editing small movies with minimal transitions and need a small library of effects, WMM works well for me, for XP and vista.

I also have Vegas wich runs good on xp pro desktop with 1G and vista laptop. I use this for the extra features and making personal music videos and short films. WMM for home/family vids that don't require much.

How long has it been since you've defragged? Shut off all your security software, and as suggested, boot clean before you start.
