I was given a Pavillion ze2000 by a friend, who was tired of it taking up space on his desk. He told me that he was going to fix it for a friend of his mother, but school(we are Juniors in High School) took up all his time, she couldn't wait, and she bought another. That was a year ago. Apparently, the keyboard just stopped working one day. I do NOT have the power adapter, for some reason, she didn't give that to him. I really want to have this to be in my room to replace the media pc I have, so I can actually sleep at night. Anywas, I took the AC adapter from my other HP laptop(pavillion ze1000 or so) and shaved the plug to make it fit. Now, if I plug it in, no lights show up, and to get it to start, I have to plug in, take out the batter, push the power button, and quickly put the batter back in. once the boot screen shows up, ai can take the batter out. Otherwisre, tthe lgithning-bolt LED just flashes three times, and nothin happens.
So, once I get it starrted, it asks if I want to resume, or setup, and get no responce from the keyborad. I have taken it out, and cleaned the connector with rubbing alcohol and canned-air. Still doesn't work. Pluggin in an external keyboard gives me nothin, no lights, nothing. I have taken out the harddrive, and STILL, it asks if I want to resume or setup. I am at a loss here.

Any help at all, I GREATLY appreciate.

    Thanks!

Well, go to Wal-Mart and get a universal adapter. Set it for 19v.
Specs for ze2000 adapter is 18.5v 3.5A and tip positive.

It should boot without the battery. If it doesn't, you need a new motherboard.
