With the exception of SLI 8700's, HP has a faster notebook than Dell now (cause of the 8800GTS).
I wonder how much longer before Dell comes out with theirs. :)

Basically, I really lucked out. When I got my hp 1 week ago, I paid $300.00 for the upgrade to the T7500. Now the T7500 went down to 200.00 and the *new* penryn T9300 is 300.00. So Hopefully I'm going to get a price check and then return it for the new T9300 for the same price. This is some good stuff

Btw just asking does anyone know if HP will offer any other penryn chips. Or will this be the only one they're going to offer?

I'm just speculating, but I assume it will be updated to include other processors soon. :)

On Costco's Web site the price difference between the T7500 and the T9300 is just $86. For someone who has no idea what the difference is, other than the obvious T9300 being a faster processor, what's the advantage of the T9300?

I edit home videos occasionally and play Sims 2 and Oblivion. Most of my computer time is just from Wordpad and visiting Web sites so I know the T9300 won't help much in that area. How does the extra 2MB of L2 Cache help or does it for the average computer user?

It'll really only matter if your doing serious 3D rendering or Video File Conversions, Graphic Editing etc. In these cases It'll definitely make a difference especially with the extra 2MB cache. Anyway just my 2 cents

@ Icehell. Thanks for the advice, I was thinking about the advantages with the 9700, two hard drive bays (RAID). But I decided I really want to have to option of carrying my laptop around a bit. with the 17" you dont get much portability. The truth is I barely take my laptop anywhere anyway, But just the option you know. Honestly a T9300 with a RAID setup would kick some serious butt. and the 8600. But I'm not much of a gamer, I'm using the 8400GS and playing Stranglehold very decently with smooth gameplay at pretty high settings. I dont know how it works, and neither am I going to question it.
