I'm thinking about replacing one of the 1GB modules in my DV2700TSE with a 2GB modual. Does this affect the performance since the memory will no longer be running in Dual-Channel mode due to not-like pairs?

No, the degree of dual channel loss will be negligible when considering the increase in RAM. I would make the jump to 3GB without much hesitation.

No. Negligible performance hit. You'd need benchmarking software to realize it. The RAM will run in dual channel asynchronous mode.

Edit: Darth beat me to it.

from 2gb to 3gb upgrade is very noticeable increase in performance even if it doesnt run on dual channel.

Its 3% more performance on dual channel which is quite small

Yeah, Dual Channel isnt that important as stated. Size is much more important than Dual Channel. 3GB will give you a good speed increase.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Will 4GB run in Dual-Channel mode even though the OS will only recognize more than 3, but noticably less than 4?

yes.. dual channel is a hardware feature regardless of OS
