Hi I have a Zv5000z from HP. I was wondering, I have a 3200+ processor and if anyone knows, does this processor have PowerNow! and 3D Now! Technologies that the other 64bit processors from HP have? The specs on their website only says it has Hyper Transport. Also, I was wondering, if anyone has the ZV5000Z, do you guys experience like slow performance sometimes, like it takes a bit longer to load some applications such as AOL, MS Office, or Windows Media Player, etc., than it would on comparably equipped computers using a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz. or something like that. Anyways, I'm simply asking because mine does that. Oh, and along with that slow speed, my computer like starts up showing the HP desktop for like 5 seconds, then it goes to the welcome screen, I log in, and it takes about 10 seconds, most likely more than that, to load up the entire computer--Windows XP Home--and I have the pre-installed software.

As for the Powernow or 3d now options (if it has them) it should be in the BIOS. You can access the BIOS by pressing F2 (I think) during system startup when the manufacturer (HP) splashscreen appears.

Yes, all the Athlon 64's (desktop and notebook) have PowerNOW! and 3D Now!. What's slowing down your notebook is a combination of all the extra software HP preinstalled and the slow 4200RPM HD that they stuck you with. Most of their Intel notebooks offer faster drives.
I swapped out the 4200RPM drive in favor of a Hitachi 60GB 7200RPM HD and did a clean install of WinXP. Several of us here have done this. Program loading and system bootup are about as fast as a desktop now. There's no technical reason for HP to not offer better drives on their AMD64 notebooks, this is just marketing weasles at work. I swear, it's like they were *trying* to slow down their AMD notebooks.
If you only have 256MB RAM, that will slow you down too. If you're going to upgrade memory make sure you have the current BIOS (F.12 last I checked) flashed in first. -

You are also getting slowed down by the archaic Go 420 or 440 installed on your system. And yes, it appears as if HP is not willing to upgrade their AMD systems.
