    SEC screens are NOT uniform. Different models, different quality. People's criticisms of SEC screens on this forum and elsewhere have on the whole been restricted to SEC4242 on the HP DV 2000 series.

    LCD Screens manufactured by Samsung Electronics Corp.(SEC). HP uses several supliers and Samsung screeens seem to be the orst and it is totally based on your luck what scren you get. Screens made by Quanta, LG, Chi Mei & AU Optronics are considered by many to be the better than Samsung. Ofcourse this applies to the dv2000/V3000 series only. I havent heard anyone complain about Samsung screens used in other models.

    In my experiences, the SEC has been brighter than the LG, and I liked it better...although the LG was nice too. Overall, all the screens that HP uses in the dv5000 series have been good. Too bad the rest of the laptop sucked (keyboard and HD's).

    They use several differant mfg's to get the best price, and so they aren't left "holding the bag" so to speak when (1) of the mfg's can't supply the needed components.

    Imagine a factory that makes 1,000, 10,000 per day.... with the whole assembly line being shut down due to lack of a needed part.

    The below is a repost, but I fiqured someone here may be able to ID the below screen. Any info would be apperciated!

    Model number
    HP nx6325 RB526UT#ABA
    Unit mfg'd by Inventec

    I'm running a non-HP factory XP PRO OS install.. When I go to device manager, monitor, plug and play - properties/details..... I don't see "plug and play"

    I see (3) listings
    Default Monitor
    Digital Flat Panel ( the built in LCD, NO external monitor connected)
    Generic Televison

    In the properties under the "device instance" I see:

    Default_Monitor=
    Display\Default_Monitor\5&88817FD&0&00000100&01&05

    Digital Flat Panel ( the built in LCD I assume since NO external monitor connected)
    Display\MS_0003\5&88817FD&0&00000100&01&05

    Generic Televison

    Display\PNP09FE\5&88817FD&0&00000100&01&05

    Am I looking in the right place?
    Can anyone ID the panel?

    SEC=Samsung Electronics
    Quanta
    LG = Phillips?
    Chi Mei
    AU Optronics
