Does anyone have any? I'm trying to decide on a cooler to get for my new lappy, but don't know enough about the vent placements etc to pull the trigger on one. The new computer is currently enjoying a short layover in Japan before it crosses the pond, so I'd like to order something soon. Also, does the 12 cell protrude from the bottom of this model?

    BTW, if anyone's interested
    • Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with SP2
    • AMD Turion™ 64 ML-40 (2.2GHz/1MB L2 Cache)
    • 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    • 128MB ATI RADEON® XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory™
    • 256MB DDR SDRAM (1x256MB) (I have some RAM from my old one I'll be upgrading this with, making it 512, until newegg gives me a deal on a 1gb stick.)
    • 80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    • DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer Support
    • 54g™ 802.11a/b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
    • 12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

Not too bad, imho, for $950 with rebates and academic pricing!

    I have a dv5000...

    Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with SP2
    AMD Turion™ 64 ML-32 (1.8GHz)
    15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    128MB ATI RADEON® XPRESS 200M w/Hypermemory™
256MB DDR SDRAM (1x256MB) (added 1gb that I ordered from newegg for 104$)
80 GB 5400 RPM Hard Drive
    LightScribe DVD+/-RW/R & CD-RW Combo w/Double Layer
    54g™ 802.11a/b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
    12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery

attacted some pics of the 12cell. It does protrude from the bottom and raises the laptop around 1 inch.

there is a vent on bottom, left, center....also fans on the left side, back

(got mine for $870 with free 1510 all-in-one :) - nice to know an employee)

Out of curiousity, what kind of performance do you get for the 12 cell battery? I just ordered a v5000z with a 12 cell.

    jdiong-

You mean how long I get? I'd say its about 4 hours (wifi on, full brightness, not undervolted, etc), but I haven't really clocked it. I do know its significantly longer than my old Compaq evo n800c. I'd say the 12 cell is well worth it. The protruding doesn't bother me as much as I'd feard. You can use it on your lap still, and its actually nice on a desk or table top. I'm also using the xpad ith it, which gives a good grip when on my lap. The design of the xpad doesn't work great with the 12 cell battery, but you can adjust the positioning a bit.

Also, imo, this thing runs amazingly cool. I was afraid I was going to need a cooler, but I really don't. I can't give you numbers as mobile meter can't read the proc temp, but its nice as long as you don't block the fan vents.
