Ok , so I bought a HP 6910p from Ebay, it came with windows XP, had no trouble connecting it to my router with Fios, but I decided to "upgrade " to Vista home , but now I can't connect to my router at all!, I've tried and tried, but nothing. Try to create a new connection, but won't let me it says that there is no wireless hardware!!. What can I do?, can I undo the vista and go back to XP?, or do I need to buy a recovery disk?, Is there something else I have to activate to make the laptop find my router? please help!!! :(

Driver page for 32bit Vista (just a guess you had that installed). Download the Broadcom Wireless driver and install it. Then you should be able to connect.

If you got internet connection working, you can take the easy route and install next HP SoftPaq Download Manager (somewhere bottom of the same page), then let it automatically install rest drivers ;) Or just install manually what you need from that page.

Klf , thanks for help. I burned the downloads to a cd and installed them in my hp laptop, did the set up and everything , but still won't connect or find any wireless hardware?. What else can it be?. One thing to add is that can I turn the laptop on , I get this message "Windows needs to installdriver software for your unknown device", then I hit the "locate and install driver software, but it comes back with "window could not find driver software". Man , I really dont know what to do. urgggggggg

First you need to know what device that actually is. To see that, open Device Manager (rightclick on My Computer, select Manage, then select Device Manager from the left, list of the devices opens on the right panel).

Devices that miss drivers are usually marked with yellow question mark. Double-click one of the devices to open it's properties, then choose the Details tab: from the drop-down list choose Hardware Id's.

The info you need is usually "VEN_xxx and DEV_xxx" Do a google search with those and you usually find what they really are. Then it's easy to search drivers, most often you find same question already asked and someone else offering the download link. Other example is ACPI\HPQ0004, where you would search the HPQ0004-part (that actually is the 3D Driveguard in some HP laptops).

If you don't find the driver, post the hardware info from the details tab and someone will find what they are :)

yea, I have a lot of devices with yellow question mark. B4 I go any further let me tell you that the Vista disk I installed came with my Gateway 6840 computer!, so I know I shouldn't have done it, but......The devices i have with questions mark are: -Base system devise
    networking controller
    PCI series port
    ricohbay8controller
    and two "unknown devices
I tried serching for them ,but had no luck.
