Monitor temps with SpeedFan, run in power saver mode, learn grammar.

After you've monitored the temps on speedfan, let us know what temp your cpu is running. Odds are, though, that if this is the first laptop "of your life" then you're probably just being surprised by how often the cooling fans run. A lot of folks post here about different tricks/tweaks/annoyances/solutions to the fan issue. Good luck.

The fan running constantly is perfectly normal for that model, considering how new yours is. Earlier revisions of that model had the fan running much less, but they would constantly overheat and cause problems (random shutdowns, damaged hardware, etc.)

I agree with Lithus, get a temp monitor of some sort (Speedfan, for example) just to make sure everything is in order. In the meantime, you're just going to have to get used to that fan running. I know I did on my HP Compaq nw8440, and that fan never shuts off once it turns on when plugged in.

Oh, and please don't be so dramatic. Sorry to be mean, but you're going ballistic over a rather trivial problem.

In addition to posting speedfan temps..
    • Always use your laptop on a hard, flat surface
    • NEVER EVER use the laptop on a soft surface, like a bed, blanket, pillow, etc..
Also, if you are doing something CPU intensive, like ripping music files, processing video files, or playing games, the CPU is always in use and will be hot, so that fan must run.

Those temps are fine. The fan should be running on low and shouldn't be very audible. If the fan is very loud then there might be something defective with it.

Just grab a toothpick and block the fan from moving, or better yet get a screwdriver and a pair of pliars and rip the fan off! That'll stop that bugger from making any noise! Oh hehe just kidding.

I barely hear the fan on my laptop even when its taxed. How loud is your fan? Its possible its not quite aligned properly so its rubbing against something. Its not an easy thing to answer without hearing the noise. I know some users have had some success in reducing the sound by updating the BIOS so you may want to look into that if it really bugs you.

If you purchased it from a local shop, then that would be the first thing I'd do. If you have any friends with laptops, try to compare the noise your's makes to theirs.

If it's on max performance the fan will almost be on. Also if you're running Vista it could be doing some housekeeping to make it run faster as time goes on and level off once it's done.
