Hi guys, I am trying to watch a movie on the TV through the tv out on my DV6. Everytime I close the lid while media player classic is playing onto my TV, the laptop monitor sleeps and does the same for TV.

The problem is, I want to watch the movie on the TV screen while my laptop is closed so I don't have 2 screens playing the movie. Any idea?

Click the battery icon in the taskbar, and click "More Power Options". Click "Change Plan Settings" for the active power plan, and then click "Change advanced power settings". Under "Power buttons and lid", change the lid close action to "Do nothing".

yes, I already did that. Although I made the close lid setting to do nothing, it still goes black. Before closing the lid was set to sleep. Now, it's do nothing, but still the monitor goes black and the TV does too.

All laptop monitor goes black when you close the lid whether it's set to do nothing or not. I just don't want to TV to go black with the monitor.

    Anyone?

    well.

you could set the computer to output only to the tv.

    are you on win7.

windows key + p lets you pick if you do just computer, extend, clone, or just the projector

be sure to mind your system temps when doing this, some machines depend on having the lid open for proper cooling......

you could always set a blank/black screen saver too. Saves the hassle of closing the lid and messing with power plans at the 'price' of running the risk of bumping the mouse/keyboard and reactivating the screen.

Most media/movie players I've seen have a 'blank the screen' mode that turns off the primary screen and directs output to the external. If you can find this, it also gets you out of playing with power plans.

There are probably a half-dozen ways of accomplishing what you want.

appreciate your input. but I am thinking, isn't there a difference between a screensaver mode and when the actual monitor goes to sleep ie, closing the lid?
