    Hi all,

I have HP Compaq V2000 CTO (Intel Pentium M 1.73Ghz, 768MB memory, Harddive is 40GB. I need to know what is that maximum capacity of the harddrive that is supported by my system? And another thing... Can Windows Vista be installed on my system?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Bye

Not to pry, but why do you want to install Windows Vista on your PC?

Officially Vista requires 512MB ram, and if you want Aero, then what matters is your video card and proper driver support.

I'm not sure about the hard drive thing but I recently upgraded my Compaq NC8000 from a 40GB to a 160GB hard drive with no problems at all, and my compaq is a bit older than your compaq so yeah...

Having a look on the hp website, there is no official Windows Vista support for your laptop, so you'll probably have to fiddle around with installing xp drivers on vista anyways.

Thanks for the reply... Acutally i was more interested in the harddrive thing.. not that Vista anyways. The reason i asked that harddrive question is that two days back i chatted with the HP technician via HELP/support and according to him the max. capacity that v2000 could support was only 100GB. I already know that the drive capacity limits is a function of the computer bios and if 100GB can be supported then I dont know of a BIOS Limit that actually hinders way for a much larger capacity drive.
    Thanks again u guys :)

Any bios update? Go to Bestbuy and get a 160 GB drive and see what happens. If all fails simply bring it back.
