    Im a newbie and just purchased a Compaq Presario F730US laptop. Can anyone tell me the proper steps to take out the Windows Vista program and install Windows XP and where do I get the neccesary drivers/software to do this { is there a website that has them listed for free ?}

    And for those that have done this, are you happy with the results ?

    Thanks..

    yeah you need to do some research before you post a thread. Theres a sticky in the first page of this forum (Hp & Compaq forum). Everything you need will most likely be there. If you researched your situation for ONE MINUTE you would have been well on your way to having Xp on your laptop. So do some research before you post again.

    I did read a large portion of the sticky that talked about uploading windows..but it was for a different laptop then mine....

    so as you see, I did spend more then a minute on the subject prior to posting my question.....

    maybe you could have included a link to the post that tells me all the info I need to succesfully accomplish my mission, instead of acting the way you did with nothing but negative commentary and very little in the way of help. I hope your daytime job doesnt involve customer service.

    In the time you spent critisizing me, you could have easily posted the link to help me...but maybe your personality is one that likes to spend more time ridiculing others then helping them.

    the sticky is useless for amd/nvidia based machine.
    try this one.
    i DO believe Compaq is harder to find xp driver than HP, but they might share some hardware, there is no firm answer or spoon feed.

    Thank you for the reply....and helping me ..and yes, you are correct, I have searched other forums, and it seems the drivers for XP on Compaq are difficult to find, ecspecially current ones that work correctly. This is why I was hoping it was available on this forum and others could give assurance that it worked properly and entirely.
