My HP dv2020 of 2 years old just died. about a week ago, wireless connection started to malfunction. It always showed wireless was turned off even I am sure it was on. I have heard similiar problem with other models of HP and I downloaded and reinstall the BIOS, but it still didn't work. I reinstalled the OS, it doesn't work. Yesterday it got worse. I could not even turned it on. The problem is that when I turned on the power, nothing shows up, just the black screen. I couldnot even get in the CMOS page. Could that be the problem with montherboard or CPU?
My gf's Macbook is having problem too. Normally, it starts or shuts down in about 30 secs. But recently, it takes forever to start and to shut down. I mean it took about 10 mins. I formatted the harddrive and reinstall the system for her, the problem remains. I thought either the memory or harddrive is having problem. She just bought it March htis year in China and the warranty only allows her to send it back to China to fix. Just wondering if anyone has any idea that can fix the problem so she doesn't have to send it bakc to China?

Concerning your HP dv2020 check the following post http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=233974 and go to the link provided in that post to see whether or not your laptop is among those on the recall list. You might get a boot every 10 tries, if you do i recommend you back up all your files. There's a good chance your motherboard is "dead".
As for your GFs Macbook i think it's better for you to make a post in the Apple's section http://forum.notebookreview.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6 -
Thank you so much for the links.
