Please tell me whether it is a good configuration for a laptop to be used for Word Processing, delivering presentations, internet browing and occational photo editing using Photoshop CS2. Also will it be future proof enough (Keeping in mind future Win Vista updates and Win Vista Home Premium).

that looks good for basic need but you might 1gb of RAM at the least

But you didn't mention about the future-proofing aspect. Whether it is future proof enough or not. -
Hey, I'm not sure what type of future proof you mean by but I read through the the forums that most laptops have an Average life Expectancy of at least three years or possible more if its well taken care of. So in your case, the Presario V3424AU shoud be good enough to get you by those amount of years for the nice decent price you'll be paying.
Hope that helps. -
It's far from future proof, it's actually a little outdated as it is. I agree with laptopboss1 that you should get at least 1 GB of RAM for Vista, but otherwise it should be fine for word processing and internet surfing, however the single core Turion may have some trouble with Photoshop.

I'd have to agree that it's on the lower end by today's standards but it should be fine for most of your intended use. You don't always need the latest/greatest anyway. Things could get a little tight with CS2 tho, particularly with only 512MB memory. I would strongly recommend 1GB as a starting point for either XP or Vista these days (more strongly for Vista of course). If you want to get into even moderate work with media files/graphics i'd suggest moving to 2GB just to improve usability, but it's by no means a requirement. You could try working with the 512MB then either throw in a 1GB DIMM w/ $$$ allows or keep an eye out for sales on 2x1GB kits.
Please tell me how this configuration is.
