Does it matter if I plug in the AC adapter before plugging in my laptop or do I have to plug in the laptop before I plug the AC adapter?

I ask because the other electronic devices in the house have conflicting instructions (some require me to plug the ac adapter first while others require me to plug the unit first) with scary caution signs.

No difference, A/C adapters and power supplies today don't have that risk anymore.

I would go with adapter first to make sure power is stable before plugging into the laptop.
