You've got 21 days from receiving it to try it out. If you don't like, just send it back and you get a 100% refund.

At least, in the US anyway, I don't see why it would be different there.

In the US you have 21 day policy to return it (as it was sent) for a full refund. But what are your problems with the Envy?

bought it from HP Direct? Then yes. But IIRC you had to pay the shipping. That part I can't really recall but yes, full refund.

Albeit, if bought with something like Bing CashBack or any other of those, I suggest contacting them first as it could give problems...

It is a factory thing as it seems. Replacing it wouldn't be any problem, and AFAIK HP UK does support even the basic warranty (I checked for France and my US Envy is covered here in France).

Contact them, explain your problem and ask for a replacement. If you're not pleased with that, then within the 21 days send it back and ask for a refund.

So you mean I can replace and refund my whole system in UK rather than in US?

I think you can. You have to contact HP UK and ask, asking is free ;)!

If not, then the US. About replacement sounds more likely than refund from the UK, but as I said, warranty speaking, I'm covered here. I haven't tried to exchange it or get a refund for mine, since I am a quite happy owner. :)
