I purchased a DM3-2010US recently as a graduation gift for my niece and it seems that video playback is barely audible, almost impossible to hear, when using the integrated speakers at max volume. Is this a common problem with this unit?

In other words, if we return it and get a replacement, is it likely to have the same problem?

Also, it seems that the touchpad driver for this unit was released by a company called ALPS, and not the usual Synaptics. The ALPS touchpad does not allow momentum glide and the multi-touch gesture functionality is much more clumsy and limited than the Synaptics touchpad, which is not great, either.

If it's only video playback that is affected, you can use either K-Lite Codec Pack (which comes with Media Player Classic as its movie player) or VLC Player. Both come with volume normalization options that should take care of your movie audio.
