Eveytime my laptop goes into/comes out of stand by/hibernation, a poping noise comes out of the speakers. Just once. It's not really a big deal but I was wondering if anybody has heard of this before. Is is a simple thing to fix? or not?
    Thanks for any help.

I would like to ask one thing which is very small and doesnote feel like opening a new topic. If I start hp quick play to watch dvd without booting my windows and after watching it I would like to know what is the correct way to shutdown quick play.

I think that's just the speakers turning on. I get that at boot and coming out of hibernate on my e1405, and also on my zv6130us. Try muting your speakers with the mute key and see if it happens again.

All of the notebooks I've had have done that.

Like Otaku said, it's just the speakers turning on.

    No need to worry.

I would like to know what is the correct way to shutdown quick play.

I believe pushing the power button does the trick.

I tried muting the speakers but the speakers still did the poping noise.
I don't think all laptops do it because my previous DV2000T didn't do that noise that's why I was wondering what's up with that. Like I said before, not a big deal.

    Thanks for your input.

Yeah, mine also pops. It has a lot to do with surrounding temperature though. It seems to me that if the temperature is too cold, like 40 to 50 F, it will pop. However, if you just shutdown the computer..and start computer from there, you won't hear popping. I find it odd.

It is definitely hardware, but the popping sound also takes place in Windows Vista on my DV2000T.
