My DV2000t CTO has a Pioneer DVR-K16 DVD writer. When playing DVD's or CD's using either QP or Windows Media Player, there is a persistent popping noise on EVERY DVD/CD that makes it impossible to listen to.

This does not happen on data DVD's with Divx/Xvid files on them. It happens a little on MP3 cd's while the drive is trying to read ahead on the disc.

I have reinstaled Quickplay, reinstalled the DVD drive and reinstaled the audio drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Call HP. See if they can send you a new DVD drive. I use to get these lag spikes that would hit exactly every 5 seconds(that was not the only problem with the drive, the most minor one). I got them to send me a new drive, and I never got any more lag spikes. I never thought a DVD drive would effect the rest of my computer by giving a lot of lag, but it did.
