Anyone have experience already with taking the dv5t with them everyday to work or school?
I've never tried to carry around a 15" (only a 17") and was wondering how most perceived that in terms of portability. I'll probably be taking mine to work and night class every day.
Will there be a big difference between the dv5t and the dv4t in terms of portability, if I am used to the XPS 1730?

I've been toting mine back and forth to work, it's not light, but it's lighter than my Dell Inspiron 6000...I can definitely feel it on my shoulder but all in all it's not horrid. Better than lugging a 17" around.

I have had 17" and 15.4" and some experience with a 14". I prefer the 15.4 as its much lighter than a 17 and not much bigger than a 14. The dv5 is less than a pound heavier than a dv4 and less than an inch longer and .5 inch wider. I guess alot depends on what you are going to do with your laptop. You can load up a dv5 with alot more horsepower and a much higer res screen. I went dv5 to try the nvidia 9600M GT which isnt available in the dv4 (top gpu is 9200) Also wanted the larger high res screen. It really is going to depend what you are going to be doing with your laptop. If I were a road warrior traveling all the time I would probably have gone with the dv4 as I wouldnt have time to game etc
Hope this helps

I won't be a true road warrior as I will likely use a desktop for work and then bust this out for school at night.
Here's how I see the comparison right now.
dv5t Pros
- larger screen with much better resolution
- probably better heat dissapation than dv4t
- cheaper at the config I want
dv5t Cons
- heavier but not by much
- larger but not by much
All in all, I think I'll go with the dv5t.
Anyone else carry it around much and care to comment? -
^ I think I may go with the dv5t too for the reasons you cited.

I carry mine back and forth to work on a daily basis. It is much lighter than my previous 15.4", and is rather thin too. It is quite portable for a 15.4" notebook. If you have been carrying around a 17", a 15.4" should be no problem.
