I find that the action button that opens up the web browser is kind of useless to me. Is it possible to remap it so that when i press it my laptop goes to sleep instead?

I thought it was quicker to just close the lid for sleep? Anyhow, a quick Google turned up this page. I've never tried it so use at your own risk. Tell us how it goes.

It is AWESOME. I love it. Even though I know this is probably cheaper in the States with BCB and stuff I've very happy with the deal that I got (CAD$1508 after everything). Make sure you get them to price match it to something like pc-computer.com or something. Futureshop's price is pretty high.

You can set it in the Power Options.

As for the original post - you can download EventGhost.

I gotta a question in regards of the keys...

I'm always use my F# keys while on gaming. so whenever I hit those keys, the auto fn kicks and screw things over.
so is there anyway to invert the Fn + F# to the regular way ? "use Fn to activate the additional function like lower the sound and stuff"

There's an option for that in the BIOS, I don't remember what it's called, but it's pretty easy to spot.

If you don't know how to enter the BIOS, spam the esc. key right after you turn on your Envy, that'll take you to a boot screen, and you follow the instructions (I think it's F10).

I am I just lucky or does every HP ENVY come with the windows key acting as the fn key? The only thing the fn key does is turn off/on the beats (with the fn+b button). All other normal things like sound/brightness/etc require the windows key...Kinda annoying when adjusting volume or turning on/off the backlight that the start menu pops up each time. doh!

    any way to change this?

i think that's just you, i tried this just before replying - the fn key is the ONLY key that works to get to the action keys at the top of the screen (or to use the f1-12 keys if you have action keys enabled), and not the windows button.

aw crap. seriously? why do i always get screwed up computers? i'm hoping there's a registry key setting or something... for me the fn key ONLY works with the b key for beats audio. all other functions require the windows key. lame. and my mini display port to vga doesn't work either. come on.........arg.

i don't know what's the fuss about mini-dp to vga, i was reading on the forums and was getting worried because the projector at work uses vga. turns out the macbook pro adapter works perfectly fine.

really? maybe that's broken as well. awesome. the apple mini-dp to vga doesn't work for me at all on this external monitor. i've seen a lot of people in the same boat. i read on the hp forums that you need a powered adapter...the computer already had limited usb ports and there's no usb port on the side with the mini-dp, so what? some weird long cable and/or hub? how many cords are going to be coming out of this thing? haha.

anyway...does anyone know where the registry settings are (or something somewhere under control panel) to fix this function key problem? i need to change it off the windows key. i can't have my start menu popup everytime i go to change the volume lol.

ok and now magically its the fn + ctl + hotkey.... maybe a driver update of some sort i don't know. at least it's not the windows key anymore but i'm not sure sure its fn and control instead of just fn...

any know how i can control the led lights on the keyboard, specifically the mute light. I am trying to make an autohotkeys script to implement an artificial numpad that uses the conventional laptop keys (7 8 9 u i o j k l m), and using Fn+F6 as the toggle (that turns out to be actually very hard... so i used alt+f6 instead)

however, i would like to use the mute light as a numpad on/off indicator, but i have no idea how to do that =(

here is an preliminary version that uses the cap lock light instead =(, it would be awesome if some computer guru figure out how to control the other LEDs on the keyboard ^_^
