I just bought a ZD8215 model HP laptop - Love it to death so far, but the only thing its missing is internal bluetooth (and lightscribe dvd - which I can live without)

I would LOVE to upgrade the wireless card to ADD internal bluetooth - surely this is possible?

Anyone know the make/model number of the internal wireless card that HAS bluetooth - and if what I want to do is possible?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Surely someone here knows the HP part number for the internal card with bluetooth? I'm sure these are available on Ebay, so I could install myself?

    Thanks

ZD8125=ZD8000 series. Here's the maintenance guide:

    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00291986.pdf

According to them, Bluetooth is #376651-001. Wireless A/B/G for USA is #376650-001. I don't know where to get these parts, nor do I know if they can easily be upgraded, but those are the numbers according to the manual.

EDIT: I believe that means Bluetooth is on a totally different card than wireless... Anyway, refer to the guide above for installation instructions.

HP has a list of supported mini pci cards (bios locked). The widely avaible MSI cards may not work...you may want to research this.

What I do know is those part numbers are NOT available on ebay.... I would call HP but I know they're gonna tell me no. Even if it IS possible - they're still gonna say no it isnt.

I ordered and received the bluetooth module from HP. The problem I'm having is connecting it to the motherboard. I found the connector but there is no cable to plug in to the BT module nor did the module come with one. HP Parts was no help over the phone. Any ideas?

Wow... I'm really sorry to hear this! I havn't ordered one yet - I haven't had time................ but I did see an auction on ebay for a bluetooth adapter - I think it was for a different model however - and it specifically said it didn't come with the cable, so this must be a common problem :(

The up side to that is, there MUST be a solution. PLEASE POST YOUR RESULTS.

You need to order a complete cable kit for your notebook. HP sent me a set of cables for free when I added a Bluetooth module to my zx5078cl. I do not have the right screw to lock the module in place, so my plastic case bulges slighty above the module. Use the right cable or you will overheat your Bluetooth module (yeah, I did this wrong once). Check the color of the individual wires in the cable carefully to know what you are doing.
