Hey guys, I've been wondering if anyone with the GPU HD 4650 could post your temperatures. I'm looking into a 2177, with P7550 and HD4650. But searching about the temperatures, I've encountered some people with problems (on older models...)

Could you guys help me, reporting your temperatures?

Also, does the keyboard, or the place where your wrist "sits" gets hot?

PS.: I'm really worried about the temperatures because my actual notebook (which has the same HD4650, but a little bit underclocked) has temperature issues. I can't even run Crysis on full settings that it will just go all black and I have to force the shutdown.

    Thanks a lot!

I gave Crysis a spin for about an hour and reached 58C on the P7350 and 65C on the HD4650 (measured with realtemp for the cpu and gpu-z for the gpu). I can feel some heat on the left wrist after a gaming session but not so much that it gets annoying.

Edit: I run Crysis at medium settings with 1280x720 resolution, motion blur off.

My god, only 65ºC? Here with the current notebook I get something like 90ºC+ when playing Crysis...

But let me ask, what's the room temperature right there? Sweden is a very cool place I guess haha...

It's 23C right now. I also put a book under the back end of the dv7 to get it a few centimeters (an inch) above the table for better air circulation.

I think i got the 4650 to 75C a few weks ago when run furmark and wprime at the same time for half an hour.

It's very hot right now, I think it's 30ºC, but even with that temperature the GPU's seems just too cold for me, perfect.

    Anymore reports?

EDIT: I've also seen many reporting that the screen is bad... are they good on DV7?

When playing Fallout 3 my 4650 reaches 75 C, and my Turion II M500 reaches 82 C, and the Fans go jet engine on me. Its like that in basically any newer game, and its driving me nuts. Im thinking about just getting another laptop..
Just one question.. Is it normal for the DV7 that you have to lower settings in games in order for the hardware not to overheat?

Falcons, but by asking about the temperatures, I mean them at the highest settings with a decent frame rate. If we have to lower settings in the game (even if the note itself can handle higher graphics) just because of the heat, I think something is not right...

That is exactly what I mean.. Fallout 3 with cranked up graphics with a decent frame rate.. Even Left 4 Dead with cranked up graphics and a little antialiasing makes the laptop heat up extremely. It really should NOT do that..

Well, but I think 75 for GPU and 82 for CPU are good values, considering that you're fully using the GPU hehe, it's just normal.

75C is fine for a GPU but 82C is slightly high for you CPU. You might want to try undervolting, though I do not know what program to use with the new Turion II's

    GPU 75
    CPU 72

I try yesterday and never go higher than that

My fan go jet engine speed after 30-40 min hour on HL2 but on CS always is at normal speed

My Turion Ultra goes up to 90 degrees cel. and my 4650 75 degrees cel. while playing COD5.
    Room temp: 21 degrees cel.

So that Turion II doesn't seem to run much cooler than Turion X2 Ultra

I like to do that also. My Clevo from 5 years ago is still going on strong with help from that "technique" :)
