We are experiencing a problem that is hard to explain - any suggestions?

Almost every other time we are using a USB keyboard with out HP laptop, the keyboard stops working and the cursor (or menu selection, or anything could be affected by the left arrow key on a keyboard) keeps moving to the left with no input from the user whatsoever. The only thing that stops this is pulling out the USB cable. mouse continues to work with no problems.

Oh yes, the laptop is running Vista.

Anyone else have this or have any solutions?

    Thanks in advance!

Somebody spill soda pop on the external keyboard? You can also try removing the left arrow key from the keyboard and test to see if it still happens (it may just be stuck). Other than that the only time I've ever had something odd like this happen was when I forgot I had a joystick plugged in and I had stored the joystick under the counter and it did not quite fit so the stick was pushing to the right which made the PC act really odd lol...took a bit to sort out what the hell was going on!

Other than that you can try another external keyboard to see if its isolated with that one kb or possibly an issue with the laptop.

Its possible the drivers that came with the OS are not quite the right ones for your external keyboard. You can try going to the mfg website of the external KB to get updated vista drivers, or go to Windows Update and run the update (but make sure the external KB is plugged in when you check for updates). If that does not fix it I don't know what to tell ya :(
