Does anyone else's brick portion of their power adapter get hot? I mean - i'm almost scared to leave it on my sofa cushion while I use my laptop. It's pretty hot to the touch.
I'd leave it on the ground if I could but the length of the cord is too short. I'm just seeing if this is normal.

I noticed mine gets hot when the battery is low and is in the charging stage.

mine gets hot, but not tooooooo hot, its just like "warm"......but for your question, i would rather not put it on the sofa (fire hazard)

Every once in a while, somebody checks his/her adaptor and finds out its hot...Don't worry it's absolutely normal. The temp of the adaptor depends on the supplied electricity, the ambient temperature, the amount of power the laptop draws, etc. There's also difference if you are in Europe, USA or Australia (different standards of power characteristics)

I have a dv8000 and dv9000 both bricks get so hot I cannot touch them and also am afraid of the fire hazard. Hp says its normal. I say its ridiculous. One is a 65watt (dv8000), the other is a 90watt (dv9000), and in charging mode both get that hot. What model do you have?

I take a heatsink from an old motherboad or CPU and attach it to the "brick" with an elastic. This keeps the "brick" a bit cooler. : )

I have a small wood box i use to prop the brick up so it does not make the carpet so hot!... this is for my c500 though... don't know why it gets that hot... the computer seems to get very hot to... to the point i have to take it off my legs!

I sit my brick below my laptop cooler but yes it does get quite hot

Mine gets oooooooober hot - like hotter than Jessica Alba naked hot. Like, can only put my finger on it for 10 seconds hot. Like, I use it to fry my eggs in the morning hot.
Okay - it's pretty hot, but only when charging the battery.
Power Adapter - hot hot hot!
