I have a dv2100t and can't figure out how to get the "Power Saver" profile to work consistently in Windows Vista. It will downclock my CPU when all USB and bluetooth devices are unplugged or turned off, but it doesn't seem to work when I have any USB or bluetooth devices connected.
Is this normal, or is there some way I can get Vista to downclock my laptop while everything is connected? I'd really like to run at a lower CPU frequency to keep heat down and avoid fan noise.
Info:
dv2100t
Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit
Core 2 Duo T7200
Nvidia Go 7200

USB and Bluetooth devices require power from your laptop to run them. So when you have these devices working they are requesting more power. Same is true for wireless cards. They require alot of juice.

Add to previous post. The devices are using power from your laptop since they dont have an external power source from an outlet. Your laptop is the outlet. =))

Thanks Wingsbr. That makes sense, but why does the power draw of the various devices keep the CPU from downclocking?
