    dear all,

    I want to partition to make 2 drives and format to install xp pro on my new hp dv5000t. This is first time i'm gona do it, can u guys point out any precautions or tips.

    yeah, you will need to go to: Start, Run, type in "command" and then type in "chkdsk /f"

    after that, use a Partitioning software such as Partition Magic,, and create your new drives.

    Follow the instructions carefully, you will need an external USB floppy drive for it to work successfully, preferably an HP or Memorex brand.

    dear illmatic thanks for the reply, can u answer following questions plz

    - using usb floppy drive is a must or i can use flash usb drive as well? or can u refer me something on nlite windows installation?

    - i want to work on win xp pro, so i dont see any benefit of keeping hp_recovery partition shuld i delete it? and if i make recovery discs i thnk i can make this parition again later , rite?

    Using a floppy drive is a must because you need to set up SATA during installation, and the creation of a floppy disk for the process is your only option.

    The only caveat to deleting your partition after making backup CDs/DVDs is that once you delete the partition, you lose the ability to load QuickPlay outside of Windows, i.e., you can't watch DVDs without booting up the entire OS first. The Recovery discs will restore your nb to its original state, bloatware included...
