I posted this info in the huge thread (you know the one I'm talking about) but I don't want this info to get lost.

The HP Envy 14 is now available on Malaysia's website for purchasing.
HP ENVY 14-2000 Beats Edition Notebook PC series specifications - HP Home & Home Office products
What's interesting is that this Malaysian version includes a USB mouse, printer, case, and Beats Solo headset.

The Envy 14 Beats is available for preorder on Amazon and on JR.com (I've used JR before, they seem trustworthy).

For students, there may be $100 off discount. Doubtful it's usable with the free Xbox 360 promotion and unclear if it expires before HP sells the refresh, and unclear if it applies to the refresh at all: NBEN1926 (found on HP's Facebook for US Students)

HP Reps have stated on the HP for US Students Facebook page multiple times that the regular Envy 14 will come out on June 26th. The Beats edition should be out on July 7th.

Live chat with HP customer support confirms that the slice battery for the Envy 14-1000 series will NOT work with the Envy 14-2000 series.

I'll update this thread with new info as I see it.

Specs (this is a mix of Beats and regular):
    Processor: i5 2410m, i7-2630QM
    RAM: 6GB DDR3, 8GB
    HDD: 750 GB 7200rpm or SSD 160GB
    1366x768 screen
Radeon HD 6630 switchable Graphics with 1024MB DDR3

It's all in one convenient place here. If you'd like to search through 800 posts to find good information, then go ahead. No one forced you to open up this thread. But 290 other people have viewed this one and didn't feel the need to leave a rude comment.

When do you think the next refresh will be? Perhaps next year around the same time? Or maybe closer to this year's holiday season? I ask because, while this refresh brings Sandy Bridge and some sort of improvement to the touchpad (and, from what I've read, the chassis), that's about it. I'd hate to drop money on one of these come, say, August, just to have something excellent get added on in a refresh not much further down the road.

It's way too early to be thinking about the next refresh.

But judging from the amount of time between the Envy refreshes, August would probably be much too soon.

Does anyone know if customization will come with a better screen resolution?

really? that's a huge letdown... i currently have a dv6tqe, and i'm planning on having it replaced with an e14 (it has a flaw anyways, but that's a different story).

but with the dv6t, there's so much you can customize, screen included. i think that having a radiance or fhd upgrade option would be great--even at a $150 extra charge like for the dv6t, LOTS of people would opt for it, and it'll make the community a whole lot happier. not that hp will read this, but just my two cents.

one more thing, could you post what you see as the best deals? i.e., buying from amazon vs. buying from hp, coupons and if they stack, etc. i'm a big fan of what you're doing here--it keeps a lot of essential information organized in a separate thread.

also, another request, when the customizations are released, could you post a little informative thing about what specs to get or something? like, for example, the dv6t i have right now, a 1gb amd 6770 is preferred over a 2gb card because the card itself isn't capable of fully using the 2gb of vram. so i guess the best processor/gpu/vram combinatinons? sorry if i'm asking for too much haha. thanks!

Amazon student benefits of buying Envy 14:
    Available now
Free 2 day shipping, $3.99 one day shipping
will give you credit for buying the xbox 360
don't have to pay tax (probably $80-$100)

HP benefits of buying Envy 14
    student discount (approx $100)
    free xbox 360
    free ground shipping
will have more models and customization (on June 26th)

So it appears Amazon Student wins about a hair just because of the availability. Just make sure you have an Amazon Student account. It's Amazon Prime, but free when you're a student. And it rocks, I buy so much off Amazon since the shipping on almost everything is free for 2 day or $3.99 for one day.

I've been watching this and the other thread for quite a while now. Has anybody noticed this envy on the Best Buy site?
    HP - Pavilion Envy Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 14.5" Display / 6GB Memory / 160GB Hard Drive - Carbon Relic - 14-2070nr

I don't know when it showed up, and I see it shows "sold out online", but does anyone know if they'll have the envy tomorrow online or in stores? I'm normally not interested in buying anything from Best Buy, (*cough* $1349.99!?!? *cough*) but I am intrigued by 18-mo financing as I am a poor poor grad student. I'm also assuming Best Buy would still honor the xbox deal. Any comments, advice?

Doh! Yes it is. But if I wait to buy from HP, possibility of customizing + student discount, but no 18mo financing...
