    Hi all,

I have this 3 yr old Presario that, even though is being replaced in a week, I want to keep using.

I bought a new battery 4 months ago and it worked fine at the beginning (2.5 hrs of battery). Now, the battery lasts no more than 15-20 mins.

The weird thing is that if I detach the battery and use the manual charge indicator on the side of the battery it shows that there's still 75% of charge on it.

I tried reducing the contrast on the screen, changing the battery setting to "Max Battery", I used the "Battery Optimizer" tool in the menu....

I don't know what to do...BTW, the battery has a 90-day warranty (how convenient!)

    Anybody with similar issues? Thanks!

You can try disabling all power saving feature, and run the battery and charge again.

That should make the Laptop/Windows battery gauge accurate again.

    Thanks fill2k!

What you are referring to is set the battery operating mode to "Always On" or "Minimal Power Management" ?

If so, I'll try it right away...

yes. that correct. also, disable the "Turning of harddrive & monitor", the standby and hibernate.

another way is to make a bootable DOS disk, and boot from the disk. DOS has no power saving feature, so it should run the battery down.

Control Panel, Power Options (when in Classic View).

Select "Always On", and "Never" on all monitor, harddisk, Standby, and Hibernate.

I cannot charge the Presario 2100 battery. The labtop works fine when it is is plugged in but even when I leave it plugged in for a night, the battery still reads 0% charged the following morning. Is it possible to recharge the battery?
