When I turn on the power to my Compaq Presario 906US, the power light comes on and stays on. The screen is however blank. I even tried to plug a monitor into the monitor port in the back of the laptop, but that won't work either. Could it possibly be a bad video card, or something else? If it is the video card, is it something that is replaceable by myself. Thanks for your help! Chris

When powering on your notebook on LCD or external monitor, does the HDD light flicker like it's booting? If it doesn't, that means that sonething is wrong with the hardware. It's possible the system is dead, but, if the HDD does continue loading, that means it's the video controller on the notebook. Did you connect the external monitor before powering on the unit? If so and there's still no video, the video card is most likely dead and needs replacing.
