Just received a Presario CQ50 I'm giving as Christmas gift. I immediately noticed the white levels and overall brightness of the screen are excessive, making images and text appear washed out. Latest drivers installed. Changing gamma, brightness, contrast, etc via Nvidia control panel does not help. Manual screen brightness adjustment via keyboard does not help. Switching themes does not help. Onboard 8200m, running at native rez. Whats up wit dis sheet?

Here is an example of laptop screen vs external lcd plugged via vid out. HP says this is a hardware issue, and wants me to return it for repair. Any additional suggestions?

Why not try drivers from laptopvideo2go since HP told you it was a hardware issue I can't see how it could hurt.
