    Hi,

I need some help here. The laptop won't charge the battery at all! I have replaced the battery and the plug. I have also replaced the DC jack and taken the whole thing apart and cleaned the fan and heatsink. After all this it still won't charge the battery.

Is there anything else I can try?

    cheers

It may well be a problem with the internal jack or motherboard as hockeymass has suggested.

It can also be an issue with the Windows ACPI driver being corrupted. When you plug the AC adapter into the laptop, is there a light that comes on? If so, that could be a good sign. I have two suggestions that will not cost anything.

Have you tried a power discharge yet? If not, unplug the AC adapter, remove the battery, and hold down the power button continuously for 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, release the power button. Plug in the AC adapter and boot into Windows. After loading Windows, install the battery. This may start the charging process.

In addition to trying the power discharge trick, there's one additional thing you can try before ruling it a hardware failure. Go into Device Manager, expand the device tree under Batteries. Right click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select Uninstall. Scan for hardware changes to reinstall what you just removed, then reboot. (See image below.)
