    Presario V3000 monitor only comes on when it wants

    Lets start by saying this is my first post here and i am not the most computer literate. My laptop has recently decided that the monitor will only work when it wants to. When it comes out of sleep mode or when you turn it on, the monitor rarely comes on, the rest of the computer acts normally, if you turn it on and off somewhere between 5 and 25 times the monitor will come on, and it will stay on, as long as it doesnt go it to sleep mode or turned off. Is my video card going bad? All i know about the vidieo card is that it is a nvidia. Thanks in advance for your help.
