I've discovered that the Compaq Presario V4000 and the HP dv4000 are similar.

I've got a V4000 in need of hinges, and it is £20 for a new left hinge.

A dv4000 hinge is a quarter of the price. Will the dv4000 hinge fit? They look identical to me.

Did try and find images from the same angle but it was tricky.

So will the dv4000 hinge fit my V4000?

It might work, but I'm not sure. The part which has 3 screws looks like it has an extra large bend on the V4000.

    Marky21-

The service guide on HP's website covers both the V4000 and the dv4000. If I was a betting man I would bet that they both use the same hinges.

The part numbers in the service manual are hinge kits. The DV has 2 hooks included with the hinge and the V has a loop included. My bet is that the hinges are the same. The different part numbers is because of the hooks and loops.

Alright, for the sake of a fiver compared to £22, I think it might be worth me trying the hinges on the dv4000.

Did you get your hinges, Marky?
