I don't know how to be more descriptive about my model number than that. I just got this thing for work a few weeks ago and generally love it.

I have a real annoyance with the mute button though. In order for me to mute, I have to select the program making the 'noise'. So, if I'm playing songs through iTunes and want to mute the computer because someone walks into my office, I have to switch back to iTunes and then used the mute button. Why doesn't it work as a system mute everywhere?

Anyone have any ideas? Just updated drivers last week, but maybe I missed one. Is this normal behavior?

    Thanks!

Does the mute function work properly with other programs? If it does then the problem lies with iTunes rather than the system. AFAIK there were some issues with iTunes and Vista. This might be one of the side effects.

It is most likely not an issue with iTunes.

If you take a look as some of the other Vista audio driver threads for HP/Compaq laptops, the issue is probably caused by the drivers (HP & Compaq notebooks should be using the same components).

    i'm having a similar problem.

i have a compaq v3000t, running vista. the touch sensitive mute/unmute button has never given me problems before, but only when itunes is running, it will not work unless the itunes window is active.

whenever itunes isn't running, it works universally. maybe we should report this to apple? who do well go to?

    it's very annoying!

Make sure you guys have the most recent audio drivers and the HP QuickLaunch buttons installed. That should fix it. It did for me atleast.

Hi everyone, I'm having a bad audio problem with my V6000 too, only it's more general than the mute button thing. I've only had the machine two months and the mute button works at least it indicates that it is working. The more serious problem is that there is no sound at all and I don't know what to do. I think it has something to do with the fact I installed a webcam and corrupted the drivers or something but I've reinstalled the drivers for the speakers and still nothing.
If anyone can help I'd be ecstatic
