I have had my Presario X6000 for almost 3 months now and it's a great machine.
However the fan seems to be loud all the time; it doesn't go on full speed, but it's still quite loud. The level of noise is the same, regardless of me running any programs or not.
Does anyone else have the same problem or know how to deal with this? I'd be very grateful cos this noise keeps bugging me.

    Some stats:
80Gb Hard drive, 512Mb RAM, 3Ghz Pentium 4 Processor, 256MB Video Card, PF usage is usually 310-350MB (anyone know what a "normal" value for this is?)

I have a Presario V2305, and I also have a noisy fan. I am not sure why. I did mention in a different post my touchpad, the bottom of the screen, and the keyboard heat up to the point it keeps me warm in the chilly library. I think it is a Presario thing, they aren't built as well. I'm taking back my Presario and trying either a Toshiba or Gateway. If they have the same sort of heating/fan stuff, then I guess it is a laptop thing!
