I have no idea what's wrong with this thing. A while back (year or more) my mother had me disable the builtin webcam on her A900 laptop, in favor of a bulky external one she used with her desktop. She recently wanted it re-enabled, but when I went into device manager, the disabled webcam entry is now missing(I had simply right-clicked on the camera and hit "disable").

Between disabling and the attempted re-enable, I had removed the display and top half of the system to clean the heatsink/fan. I put everything back exactly where it went, making sure all wires were routed exactly like they were and all connectors firmly plugged in.

I disassembled the laptop again and checked the continuity of the webcam's connector wiring and the wiring is fine. Another weird issue is the right-hand speaker no longer works now (the wiring tests fine there, too).

I just recently did a nuke'n'pave, hoping it was a software issue (some payware listed the webcam as an "unplugged usb device" but wouldn't tell me anything else unless I gave it $70) but that didn't fix it either.

Anybody else have/seen a problem like this crop up? Am I going to have to replace the motherboard or the machine entirely?
