    Hey all.
I just bought this laptop and it runs great with two exceptions.
When I close the lid I need to reboot to get back to the desktop. I have tried changing the "close lid" properties. It does not resume from hibernation or sleep.

Also, when I close the lid the computer is still on and depleting battery. I've searched for some time on a fix and have found none. All updates have been applied.

AMD 64 Athlon X2 Dual Core
    Vista Home Premium
    Compaq Presario F730US
    2GB Ram
    120GB HD

Thanks in advance for your help.

Your post seems a little contradictory. Are you saying that after you open the lid back up, it won't resume from hibernation or sleep? If so, that doesn't jive with your statement that it still uses battery when closed, because hibernate or sleep should use virtually no battery. Explain?

If I close my lid and leave it that way for two or so hours it will not start due to battery drain. And I can see the lights are still on.

And. If I close the lid, come back a few minutes later I must reboot. It is not contradictory, it's two different issues.

Issue ONE...Lid closed for two hours, battery dies ( this is from a full charge)
Issue TWO..Lid closed for a couple of minutes, will not resume.

I remember seeing similar issues with older HP notebooks that were fixed by BIOS updates. See if there's one available for your notebook.

Thanks for the response. I have already updated the bios. I'm now seeing that even when the lid is up and it goes to sleep I need to reboot.
