A couple months ago my 3 year old laptop, a DV9700T, failed due to the common faulty nvidia gpu problem where it powers on with a blank screen and that's it.
I just got my laptop back from HP and they fixed it by replacing the motherboard (out of warranty, but they did it for free). I was under the impression that all of these motherboards have the same design flaw and will fail again eventually, so I was wondering what steps I should take to delay that as much as possible?
Right now I have it undervolted with RM clock and on a cooling pad, and I will stop gaming on it; but I was wondering if there is anything else I could do. Should I open it up and apply new thermal paste and a copper shim even though it's currently working? I need my laptop to last me probably another two years, after that I'll be able to afford a new one.
Thank you in advance for your time and help.

my dv9 died the same death
IT WILL FAIL AGAIN!
Keeping it cool will help extend its life. if you are able, repaste and add the shim. Many tutorials are available on youtube.
