I got a new laptop over the Christmas break. I got the larger 12 volt battery to go along with it as I do travel and it might last a little longer on plane trips. The problem I am having is I cannot remove the battery. I have tried and gotten like 3 or 4 other people to try removing it. I have a Compaq Presario V6000. The thing is, the slider on the bottom is stuck to the left. It will wiggle back and forth if the battery is moved but other then that I have nothing else to add right now. If you need anything else, just ask and I will post.

Use a thin knife or something of the sort to push the battery gently upwards. Be sure to leave the notebook to cool down completely as the heat may help expand the plastic of the case and hence tighten the grip on the battery.
and by the way, it is 12-cell battery -
my bad, it is the 12 cell. and where do i push up, from where the battery should pop-up if I were able to move the slider?

Hmm. Same problem, here. I have (had?) a v6030US. Got a 12 cell battery for it, snapped it in, and uh-oh, it won't come out. The slider is stuck. Now, I didn't think it was a particularly big deal; it worked fine on ac and battery and recharged fine. For about a month. Then one day, when I tried to turn it on. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. The light by the power cord would light when connected to ac power, but the power button would not light up, and the thing wouldn't start. Took to CompUSA, which is the nearest warrenty service center, and they couldn't do anything, so they sent it off to HP on Jan. 2
Where it is now somewhere, probably lost....
