Ok heres the problem I just ran into with my bros laptop. I had it on the bed while charging still on but not paying it any mind. All of a sudden i hear this strange beeping then it shuts off. I lifted it up and felt the laptop and it was hoooot.

Gave it a few mins to cool off..fired it up and nothing appears on the screen. Took out the battery booted it up again..nothing on the screen. All the blue lights from quickplay and wifi lit up, sounds like its running but nothing on the screen. Any thoughts or tips? I hope its not dead

well let it cool down all the way, and then see what happens. Hopefully it was just the kill switch that turned it off because of the heat. If it still will not turn then try do a hard reset (hold down the power button for 1 min without power like no battery or ac) and then try plug it in again and see if it works. And if you post the first 6 digits of the serial number like cnf723 then we can see if it was a notebook under that group that had issues

    Thanks

in the future when you use it in bed, put a book under the laptop which encompasses the entire area of the laptop. This is what I do and it works fine.

glad it works again for you, but as Tokar said, if you put it on cloth it will block the vents thus it is going to have a really hard time cooling itself. So next time make sure the vents are open and ya use a book or something.
