    Hi,

I have an HP DV7-1000EA notebook. It has a NEC-Sony Optiarc BC-5500S Blu-ray DVD Combo Writer.

The DVD writer is giving me problems when burning DVDs.

When burning DVDs using the Power2Go software which came pre-installed with the notebook, I have no problems but when using Nero 7.8.5 it gives me a lot of problems. Once DVD started burning normally and stopped at 57%. After 5 mins or so it resumed burning on its own and completed successfully. Yesterday I burnt an image with it and it stopped at 1% for about 10mins. Then it started burning the DVD and completed successfully.

I had used Nero 9.0.9.4 trial version and it gave me a similar problem. It would cease burning randomly - at 20%, 91%, 19%. I hadn't given it enough time to continue but used to break the burning process myself after about 5mins so I don't know it it would have continued or not. I put the blame to the software and installed the 7.8.5 version which never gave me problems on my pc but it still gave me the above problems.

Any ideas?? Should I ask for a replacement of my drive - I only bought the laptop a month ago. The problem is that the power2go software gave me no problems but am I bound to use only that which came already installed?

    Thanks

I can't see how you could ask them to look at it, since it works with the software they installed with it. No offence dude but you know where I'd telling you to go!
