    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Regarding the HP Pavilion dv2000t
    Inte core 2 duo 2ghz
    1gb ram
    120 gb
    12 cell battery

    I have the SEC screen!!
Sometimes when I close the lid of my laptop, and come back and open it up, the computer turns on, but the screen does not.
The screen just stays blank as if the the computer is not on.
This problem seems to happen when ever it feels like, and only solution to get it up and working is doing forced shutdown by holding the turn on button.

I set my power option to "Always On", and this problem seems to be still happening.

My computer is set to go into Stand By mode when the lid of the laptop is closed. But it never seems to get out of stand by mode.

Has this problem occurred to someone else?

Is there a solution to this problem. All help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance..............

Right click the desktop, and go to the Screensaver Tab.

    Click on the Power button.

Under Power Properties, Go to the Advanced Tab.

Towards the bottom there will be (3) drop down boxes, make sure non of the bring your laptop into Standby Mode.

Under the (When I close the lid of my computer) dropdown box select (Do Nothing) and that should solve your worries.

that did help Airman, but i figured out that my computer can't be woken up from standby if you even put in stand by manually it won't resume. Standby helps save power which is crucial for laptops.

Does anyone know why this laptop can't resume from standby, I know it is a known issue with the windows xp power management but i couldn't find a solutions to the problem.

Further help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

Are you running a clean installed copy of Xp? My out-of-box experience with DV2000T was so bad. Norton crashes..error msgs..30 min of pre-configuration & running instsallations... It is almost like paying HP to trash your machine.

I just uninstalled the crap, cleaned the hell out of the registry, and cleaned my hard drive a lot.

But would a nice clean install help a lot anyway.

    Any other ideas??
HP support suggest an OS re-installation. And thats what I am doing right now.
I'll report back when the installation is done.

In the mean time, I got the integrated graphics, any tweaking can I do that would make the screen a little brighter. (the SEC screen)

This may sound lame but it works for me when my screen doesn't go on after I open the lid.
Press "any key" or the space bar, and the screen will light-up instantly.

I'm having the same problem. The keyboard lights are on, but the screen stays black for several minutes, until the blue screen of death appears for a few seconds, and then it restarts and it asks if I want to start in safe mode or normally. It does it whenever I put it into sleep mode, whether by just closing the screen or selecting it in windows.
